US Election - Who is the man who died in the assassination attempt on Trump?

The man who was shot and killed trying to assassinate Donald Trump was the twice-married father of two, Corey Comperatore. Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, announced the death of the 50-year-old firefighter on Sunday. "We lost a Pennsylvanian brother yesterday, Corey Comperatore," Shapiro said. "I have just spoken with his wife and his two children."

Corey Comperatore's daughter Allyson wrote on Facebook, "My father was a superhero in real life who has passed away." "He threw himself in front of my mother and me to shield us from the bullet that came towards us," she wrote. "He was the best dad a girl could wish for, always ready to help and a man who made friends with everyone."

"The hate for a man took the life of the one we loved the most."

Previously, Corey Comperatore's sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, mourned his death on Facebook. "The Trump rally took my brother's life," she wrote. "The hate for a man took the life of the one we loved the most."

Governor Shapiro described the deceased as a volunteer firefighter and churchgoer who loved his fellow humans, especially his family. Comperatore had shielded his family and died as a "hero." In honor of him, flags in the state of Pennsylvania were to be flown at half-mast.

The 50-year-old was a Trump supporter and was excited about his rally in Butler, according to Shapiro. In the online service X, Comperatore answered the question of what he had planned for the weekend with the words: "Event with Trump! Butler, in Pennsylvania." It was his last message in that online service.
