Thunderstorm approaching - Weather service warns of showers
After the heat comes thunderstorms: The German Weather Service issued thunderstorm warnings for several regions in Germany in the afternoon. Warned are therefore the southern part of Lower Saxony around Göttingen, the northern part of Thuringia, areas between Bielefeld and Bremen up to the North Sea, and regions around Nuremberg in Bavaria. According to the warning message, there is a risk of lightning for life and limb. It can also lead to flooding on roads and in cellars.
According to the weather service, the showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread to the east in the evening. Up to 30 liters per square meter can fall within a short time or up to 50 liters per square meter within several hours. "Extreme thunderstorms with occasionally even stronger rainfall not excluded", was the forecast.
The weather in March can be unpredictable, sometimes bringing unfavorable weather conditions. The DWD issued a weather warning for several regions in Germany, including Offenbach, due to the threat of severe thunderstorms. Residents in the southern part of Lower Saxony, northern Thuringia, and areas between Bielefeld and Bremen should be particularly vigilant. Heavy rains could lead to flooding on roads and in cellars, posing a risk to life and limb.
