Storm - Weather service expects heavy thunderstorms on Saturday
Soccer fans and day-trippers in parts of Germany must once again prepare for heavy thunderstorms on Saturday. The German Weather Service in Offenbach predicts a severe thunderstorm situation on Saturday evening and throughout the night until Sunday, which could extend from the southwest and west to the middle of Germany. Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall of 40 to 80 liters per square meter within fewer hours and hail up to three centimeters are possible, according to the DWD.

Overall, extreme rainfall of more than 100 liters per square meter could accumulate in some regions from Saturday evening to Sunday evening, particularly in the western Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and western Hesse, as well as in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the DWD.
