Warentest ranks the finest smartphones available.
Stiftung Warentest evaluated 32 smartphones, including the latest ones from Samsung and Google. The top spot stayed the same, but a new second-place winner emerged, and several inexpensive phones did well, including one that costs approximately 200 euros.
If you've been seeking the most recent smartphone test results from Stiftung Warentest, you may not have found them, as numerous recently released models have not yet been assessed. Some examples include the latest Galaxy S24 series and other Samsung devices, as well as the Pixel 8 Duo from Google and phones from Xiaomi, Motorola, Sony, OnePlus, Nothing, and Telekom. The organization has at long last caught up with this by testing 32 smartphones. Several of these have performed well, particularly affordable ones starting at around 200 euros.
iPhone 15 Pro Max Leading the Pack
The iPhone 15 Pro Max continues to occupy first place, achieving a very good quality rating (1.5). The cameras, display, ease of use, and stability of Apple's flagship are exceptional. The testers found the battery life and basic functions, including voice quality, network reception, Wi-Fi, processing power, and location to be average.
The other iPhone 15 models rank closely behind with a total score of 1.6. The cameras make a small difference, with the 15 Pro being very good, while the 15 and 15 Plus earned good ratings.
Apple's trio shares second place with the newly tested Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The basic functions and stability are good, and the device was considered very good in all other categories. The Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy S23, which received the same total score last year but have slightly weaker cameras, also attained this rating.
Good Cameras at an Affordable Price
The Galaxy S24 received a quality rating of 1.7 and shares third place with the Galaxy S23. Following this is a group of smartphones with a total score of 1.8. Among these is the newly-evaluated OnePlus 12, whose cameras, display, and performance were highly rated. Its handling, however, was only mediocre.
The new Google Pixel 8 Pro received a quality rating of 1.9 due to its average battery life. Its cameras and display were highly praised by the testers, while everything else was considered good. The Samsung Galaxy S24 also received a total score of 1.9 due to its poor performance. Its camera was not very good, but just barely managed to score higher (1.6).
The third newcomer with a quality rating of 1.9 is the Sony Xperia 5 V. Its network sensitivity and location accuracy were only average, while its handling was also only average. The device's cameras and stability are good, and the display, battery life, and handling are excellent.
The most affordable smartphone overall that performed well (2.3) is the Samsung Galaxy A25, which can be found for roughly 205 euros in online stores. It has an excellent screen, a decent battery, and is simple to use. However, its cameras and stability are merely average. For about 50 euros more, you can purchase the Galaxy A35, which excels in every category.
