Wanderer falls to death in Upper Bavaria

In the Chiemgau Alps in Oberbayern, a 61-year-old hiker died. The fact that his body was found only a few days after the accident is due to the tip of a passerby.

A 61-year-old man died at the Hochstaufen peak, near the Bavarian community of Piding. The German resident of Austria apparently fell several days ago at the north side, as the Rosenheim police reported.

He was discovered on a Wednesday by the crew of a police helicopter in a steep gully. The trigger for the large-scale search operation was the tip of a passerby. This person had noticed that a car had been parked on a hiking parking lot for several days.

The police checked the car registration and found out that the man had been missing in Austria since the weekend. When he was found, only his death could be determined. His body was recovered by police and mountain rescue teams.

The international community expressed condolences upon hearing about the hiker's death in Bavaria. This unfortunate incident prompted an investigation by the German police, as his car was left abandoned in a hiking parking lot.
