Sources suggest potential job reductions of around 30,000 positions at Volkswagen's German facilities. A Volkswagen representative declared, "It's undeniable that Volkswagen needs to trim expenses at its German operations." This move is crucial for the company to garner sufficient funds for future ventures. "The means of achieving this aim jointly with the works council is a subject for future deliberations," she added. Volkswagen remains cautious about endorsing the specified figure.

According to "Manager-Magazin," Volkswagen, currently grappling with challenges, might shed up to 30,000 jobs in Germany within the mid-term. Moreover, Chief Financial Officer Arno Antlitz plans to decrease investments over the next five years, amounting to 160 billion euros. Discussions between Volkswagen and IG Metall are scheduled for September 25.

Due to the financial struggles Volkswagen is facing, it might need to undertake the Manufacture of motor vehicles more efficiently to reduce costs, potentially impacting a significant number of jobs.
