Video contributions on accusations against Rammstein in the YouTube annual charts 2023
What actually happened at the after parties of Rammstein concerts? This question has preoccupied users of the Google platform YouTube so much that two films on this topic have made it onto the list of the ten most successful "Top Trending Videos" in the YouTube charts for 2023. Berlin actress Kayla Shyx took first place with a 36-minute video in which she recounted her personal experiences at a Rammstein concert in Berlin's Olympic Stadium in June 2022. Youtuber Rezo, who rose to national fame in 2019 with his video "Die Zerstörung der CDU" (The destruction of the CDU), came third on his channel Renzo with a rehash of the allegations.
Rammstein lead singer Till Lindemann has been at the center of accusations in recent months, which he has denied. The Berlin public prosecutor's office dropped its investigation into the rock star in August. The legal dispute over the allegations also concerned the video "Was wirklich bei Rammstein Afterpartys passiert" by Kayla Shyx. Lindemann's lawyer obtained a temporary injunction against Shyx at the Hamburg Regional Court. Several statements from the video were prohibited. A one-minute shortened version of the video is now available on YouTube.
Andreas Briese, Director for YouTube in Germany and Central Europe, said that in an increasingly complex world characterized by upheaval and uncertainty, there is a need for education and dialogue. "It is therefore not surprising that there are many videos in the top 10 that explain, represent points of view on socially relevant topics and involve the community in the discussion." The "Most Trending Video" in 2023 by Kayla Shyx alone had over 66,000 comments.
