Pride Parade - Vibrant Demo for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Under the slogan "disabled, crazy, celebrating together," several hundred people protested for the rights of people with Disabilities in Berlin. "Germany must do more for our human rights," read the announcement for the so-called Pride Parade, which, according to the organizers, took place for the eleventh time. The colorful demonstration took place in the afternoon from Hasenheide towards Kottbusser Tor.
The organizers demand that people with disabilities should go to school with everyone else, get an education, and go to work. "In paid and voluntary work and not only in workshops," read the announcement. Among the further demands are social participation and protection from violence.
The demonstration started in the vibrant neighborhood of Neukölln, located within the larger city of Berlin. Despite facing certain impediments, the passion and determination of the protesters were evident as they marched towards Kreuzberg. The event, which is a significant part of Germany's social activism, attracted a diverse crowd, showcasing support for the rights of people with disabilities, continuing their tradition of annual demonstrations.
