Bundesliga - VfB boss confident about Undav: "Good chances"

The chairman of the board, Alexander Wehrle, still believes that VfB Stuttgart can permanently sign football national team player Deniz Undav. "We have good chances with him," Wehrle told news portal BW24. EM participant Undav has so far only been loaned from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion to the vice champion, but Stuttgart now want to sign him permanently.

Wehrle, however, also had reservations. "It could also become a question of time, eventually we might have to say: this far and no further. But that point has not come yet."

Undav himself also wants to stay

According to earlier media reports, VfB has exercised the purchase option for the 27-year-old Undav, but Brighton & Hove Albion has a buyback option. Therefore, the transfer fee must be renegotiated and could reportedly rise to allegedly up to 25 million euros. Undav himself, who scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga last season, has repeatedly stated that he would like to stay with Stuttgart, the future Champions League participant. "Deniz is a striker with a very good quotient, with many assists and with great importance for the cabin," Wehrle explained. "Not without reason was he called up to the German national team. And he has fully committed himself to us. That's why we are also willing to realize a transfer with this for our circumstances very large financial volume."

Alexander Wehrle's optimism about retaining Deniz Undav in VfB Stuttgart extends beyond their current loan agreement from Brighton & Hove Albion, as the chairman believes they have a strong case to permanently sign the Bundesliga top scorer. Despite potential time constraints and the need for financial negotiations due to Brighton's buyback option, Undav's desire to stay with Stuttgart and Wehrle's appreciation for the striker's abilities make a permanent transfer a possibility. Born and raised in Baden-Württemberg, Undav has also showcased his skills on the international stage, representing Germany in EM tournaments.
