Accident with police car - Van crashes into patrol car - six injured

Six people have been severely injured on Federal Road 30 in Bad Waldsee (Ravensburg District), Germany, after a small transit van collided with a police car. According to the police, the patrol car had veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle after the initial collision on Tuesday evening.

Preliminary findings suggest that the 19-year-old driver of the transit van had pulled out in front of the oncoming police car while turning onto the B30. The oncoming car was reportedly propelled into a grass median after colliding with the police car. The police officers were reportedly not using warning signals at the time.

Twenty-year-old transported to hospital by helicopter

According to the police, there was a 26-year-old policewoman and her 35-year-old colleague in the patrol car. Additionally, a 20-year-old individual was in the car, who had been arrested previously and was to be taken to the station. The 20-year-old was reportedly transported to the hospital by helicopter. The two police officers, the 19-year-old, and the two occupants of the oncoming car were also severely injured and taken to the hospital. The reason for the 20-year-old's arrest was not disclosed by a police spokesperson.

The police estimated the total damage to be around 130,000 Euro. The B30 was closed for several hours following the accident. The police are currently investigating the exact sequence of events. The public prosecutor's office has ordered an examination.
