Saxon region - Valeriia remains missing; authorities persist with the search.
A nine-year-old girl named Valeriia from Döbeln has disappeared, and authorities are still looking for her with no sign of her. A spokesperson for the Chemnitzer Polizeidirektion told the German Press Agency that more officers and policewomen will be deployed in Döbeln on Saturday to continue the search. They'll also be interviewing more residents.
Valeriia was last seen on Monday morning, around 6:50 am, as she was on her way to school. However, she wasn't in class, which raised concerns. The search on Friday involved divers, special dogs, hundreds of police officers, a drone, and a helicopter. People known as Super-Recognizers looked through lots of images and videos, but there's still no sign of the girl.
The police are exploring all possible scenarios, including kidnapping and the possibility that Valeriia had an accident or is hiding. Valeriia, who's from Ukraine, lives with her mother in Germany, while her father is still there. The father is also being contacted by the police. The spokesperson said, "We wouldn't be putting so much effort into Döbeln if we thought she was abroad."
