Vacationing in Southern Europe Often More Budget-Friendly Than Germany
Tourists venturing through southern and southeastern European lands, as well as many adjacent nations close to Germany, frequently spend less on lodging and dining compared to back home. As per the Statistical Federal Office, the expenditures for hotel and culinary services in Spain stood at 26% less than in Germany, 23% less in Greece, and a whopping 41% less in Turkey. Travelers, on the other hand, spend more in Switzerland and the northern Europe.
As for the preferred vacation spots in Southern and Southeastern Europe, the expenses were highest in Italy, as per statistical analysis. Despite this, they were still 5% cheaper on average compared to the German scale. Overnight stays and meals in Albania and Bulgaria went for less than half the price.
The Statistical Office pointed out that prices in some neighboring countries were also relatively affordable. The rate dropped by 2% in France and 3% in Austria. However, the costs were 19% lower in Poland and an impressive 36% in the Czech Republic.
However, the data shows that holidays were more costly in Northern Europe. Hotel and restaurant fees in Denmark were one-third greater than in Germany, 23% more in Norway, and a mere 2% in Sweden. The highest prices were, unsurprisingly, in Switzerland, where tourists forked out 49% more than in Germany. Prices were also higher by 12% in the Netherlands.
