USA releases urgently needed military aid for Ukraine
The opening of the new frontline section in the Charkiw region by the Russian side puts Ukraine under temporary pressure. However, Ukraine continues to lack ammunition in Kiev. The next tranche of aid from the USA is coming.
The Ukrainian military urgently needs supplies. The USA will provide military aid to Ukraine in the near future in the amount of approximately 2.3 billion US dollars (around 2.14 billion Euro), US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced during a visit to his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umjerow in Washington.
The package approved by US President Joe Biden contains "additional air defense missiles, anti-tank weapons, and other important ammunition from US stocks," Austin explained. A "realignment of some foreign military deliveries" will also enable the US to provide Patriot and other air defense systems "in a expedited timeframe."
These aid packages are part of several already provided to Kiev since the US Congress released new funds in the amount of around 61 billion US dollars (56.2 billion Euro) for Kiev in late April. Since the beginning of the Russian offensive war against Ukraine more than two years ago, the US, according to Pentagon figures, have provided military aid to Ukraine in excess of 50 billion dollars.
Kiev prepares for EU power imports
The Ukraine has managed to stabilize the situation along the approximately 1000 kilometer frontline after the resumption of US weapons deliveries, despite the continued Russian pressure.
The opening of the new frontline section in the Charkiw region from the Russian side put the Ukrainian side under temporary pressure. In artillery engagements, reports suggest that only three, instead of the previous five or more, Russian projectiles are hitting a Ukrainian granate now.
Facing constant Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Kiev is preparing for power imports from the EU. In his evening video address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a decision on power imports is now necessary, as reported by Prime Minister Denis Schmyhal on the current situation of the energy supply in the country.
"We are deciding now fully and completely for the agreed import volumes with the EU, and I am grateful to all our neighbors for this help," Zelenskyy said. "We are doing everything we can to increase imports, and this should be a European solution." His government is preparing the corresponding agreements.
Zelenskyy urged the Energy Ministry to inform the population daily about the status of work in the energy sector, existing deficits, and the country's measures to address these deficits.
Lukashenko warns Kiev
The Russian military has been targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure deliberately in recent months to destroy it and erode the population's resistance will.
Belarusian strongman Alexander Lukashenko spoke in an address on the upcoming Republic Day on June 3 in Minsk, warning Kiev that NATO does not intend to end the war in the neighboring Ukraine and plans to draw Belarus into the conflict. "I guarantee you that there will be no clashes at the Ukrainian border, there will be none."
Simultaneously, Lukashenko issued a warning to Kiev, to watch out for provocations at the border. "I would like to ask the Ukrainians not to play with fire," said Lukashenko. Minsk will not tolerate any aggravation or escalation. A few days ago, Belarus strengthened its border troops at the border with Ukraine due to alleged provocations.
Kiev rejected this and declared that Ukraine was only fortifying defensive positions at the border. At the beginning of the Russian aggression war against Ukraine more than two years ago, Belarus allowed the deployment of Russian military from its territory.
- Despite the ongoing aid from the USA, Ukraine still struggles with ammunition shortages, especially in Kiev, making the upcoming 'Arms delivery' from the USA crucial in the face of the 'Attack on Ukraine' by Russia.
- In light of the 'Politics' surrounding the conflict, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has issued a warning to Ukraine, urging caution against 'Provocations at the border' and stressing that Belarus will not tolerate any 'Aggravation or escalation'.
- As a result of the continuous 'Russian pressure' and attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the Ukrainian government is seeking 'Power imports from the EU' to strengthen their energy supply, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressing gratitude to EU nations for their support.
