Ursula von der Leyen re-elected as Commission President

Ursula von der Leyen, the CDU Politician, is Re-elected as President of the EU Commission by the European Parliament. As the only candidate for the position, she receives over 400 votes.

Ursula von der Leyen remains President of the powerful EU Commission for another five years. In the European Parliament, the majority of the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted for the 65-year-old CDU Politician, thus officially confirming her nomination by the Heads of State and Government of the EU States.

401 MEPs voted for von der Leyen in the European Parliament, while 284 voted against her. There were also 15 abstentions.

Ursula von der Leyen's re-election as EU Commission President was supported by a majority of MEPs in the European Parliament. Over the next five years, her leadership in the European Commission will continue to shape the politics of the European Union.
