Upsidedown Trees, flooded basements and streets: A storm caused numerous fire department interventions in Ostsachsen in the evening. In the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz, emergency services were dispatched between 17.00 and 22.00 hours to approximately 85 weather-related interventions, as a spokesperson for the control room reported. Particularly affected were Zittau, Bautzen, Weißenberg, Göda and Löbau. In Bautzen, a train collided with two uprooted trees in the evening. It derailed. The trees had to be cleared from the tracks.

  1. Despite the challenging weather in Eastern Saxony, specifically in District Görlitz, the local Fire department effectively handled over 85 emergency calls between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
  2. The Fire department in Görlitz was also called to attend to a situation in Görlitz itself, where heavy rains had uprooted trees, causing disruptions.
  3. On the same day, another incident occurred in Bautzen, the capital of the District, where a train collided with two uprooted trees due to the severe weather conditions.
  4. Saxony's Fire department operations in Bautzen and Görlitz continued until late evening, dealing with various challenges brought about by the unusual weather.
