- Underwater Explorers Discover Deceased German Individuals in the Ocean
A German woman, reported missing on the Greek island of Crete since last Friday, was found deceased in the sea. Her lifeless body was discovered by a diver amidst the resorts of Prassonissi and Triopetra, as announced by the coast guard on Saturday. The body was transported to the port of Agia Galini via boat.
The woman's husband contacted Greek authorities after failing to hear from her since Friday afternoon's afternoon. Promptly, police and the coast guard initiated a search operation. The husband mentioned to police that he was unaware of her whereabouts, but speculated she might have wished to swim in the sea. Postmortem examinations will now ascertain the cause of death.
Unfortunate Fatalities of Tourists on Crete and Other Greek Isles
At least eight foreign vacationers have succumbed to their demise this summer on the renowned Greek islands, grappling with a severe heatwave.
On June 9, the remains of renowned British television presenter Michael Mosley were found on the island of Symi. A few days later, an 80-year-old Belgian man was discovered deceased on the east coast of Crete, near the ancient city of Lato. The deceased also included tourists hailing from the Netherlands and the USA. Two French women, aged 73 and 64, have remained missing since a hike in June on the island of Sikinos.
In response to the scorching temperatures, Greek health authorities have recurrently issued alerts and advised visitors to steer clear of outdoor activities during the warmest hours of the day.
The husband informed Greek authorities about the following missing details: her last known location and the time he last heard from her. Upon learning of the woman's disappearance, the police and coast guard swiftly launched a search operation.
