UN observer mission Unifil has been subjected to gunfire by Israeli military personnel.

According to some news outlets, Israeli troops are alleged to have aimed their guns at a UN peacekeeping base situated in Lebanon's region of Nakura, near the border. This report was provided by Lebanon's official news agency, NNA. Regrettably, there's been no disclosure regarding any injuries or fatalities. Neither the UN mission nor the Israeli military has acknowledged or verified this event as of yet.

Nakura serves as the primary settlement near the Israel-Lebanon boundary demarcation line, and UNIFIL's main headquarters are situated here.

Israel's military initiated a land assault within Lebanon a week prior, claiming it was targeting Hezbollah. This escalation in violence paints a grim picture of potential confrontations with the Lebanese army and UN troops. The UN mission has been on patrol at the border for numerous years.

A short while ago, the UN mission voiced concern regarding Israeli military activities that were "strikingly close" to one of their bases, specifically referring to an incident near Marun ar-Ras. Marun ar-Ras is situated east of Ras al-Nakura.

The Military Attachment of the Lebanese army has expressed alarm over the Israeli military's actions, as they see these activities as a violation of the ceasefire agreements. UNIFIL, with its primary headquarters in Nakura, is mandated to maintain peace between the Israeli military and Lebanese forces.
