Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba arrived in China

The journey to China is not an easy one for the Ukrainian chief diplomat Kuleba. Beijing is expected to put more pressure on Moscow to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.

War in Ukraine - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba arrived in China

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will achieve position alignment with China for a future peace conference during prolonged talks in Beijing. The focus will be on the question: Peace in Ukraine, emphasized the top diplomat in a Facebook video. The discussions aim to find common ground. It's crucial to avoid competition among peace plans. "We need to reach a just and lasting peace, and China could play an important role in that," the Minister highlighted.

Kuleba pointed out that it was his first visit to China since the Russian invasion in February 2022. Moreover, it was the first full-fledged visit of an Ukrainian Foreign Minister to the Middle Kingdom since 2012.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russian invasion for over two years. Kiev seeks a stronger diplomatic role for Beijing in ending the war. China has proposed a peace plan with several points. It does not call for a full Russian troop withdrawal from Ukrainian territory and differs significantly from a proposal put forward by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Russia controls nearly half of its neighbor's territory, including the Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea coast.
