Ukrainian authorities issue evacuation order for Sumy region

Ukrainian authorities have issued an evacuation order for approximately 20,000 people in the eastern region of Sumy, bordering Russia. The order affects 28 locations under "enemy fire," the police announced on Friday via Telegram. Local security forces are already deployed to assist with the operation.

The region of Sumy borders the Russian region of Kursk, where Ukrainian forces entered on Tuesday. On Friday, the Ukrainian army also reported attacking a military airport in the Russian region of Lipetsk.

Ukrainian officials have not directly commented on the Ukrainian army's incursion into Russian territory in the Kursk region. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his daily address on Thursday evening that Russia had brought the war to Ukraine, and now it should "feel what it has done."

The evacuation order in Sumy affects several locations within its eastern region, known for its border with the Russian region of Kursk. The ongoing tensions between the two nations have resulted in various military actions, such as the Ukrainian army's reported attack on a Russian military airport in Lipetsk.
