Ukrainian armed forces: Almost 1,300 square kilometers of Kursk region fall under their influence

Ukrainian forces allegedly seized control of approximately 1,300 square kilometers of the Russian region of Kursk within three weeks of their incursion, according to military data. Chief Military Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi disclosed on Tuesday that this advancement led to the capture of around 594 Russian citizens. However, these assertions could not be corroborated independently.

During his discussion, Syrskyi mentioned that the enemy is deploying troops from various directions and diminishing their strength. He further revealed that they are planning to create a defensive structure around Ukrainian offensive troops and launch counterattacks. Interestingly, Russian forces carried out air and missile assaults on Ukraine for the second consecutive night before his speech. These attacks reportedly involved 81 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, resulting in five fatalities and sixteen injuries, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The intrusion into Kursk led to an exodus of around 130,000 locals leaving their homes. To counteract this, Russia dispatched additional troops to the region, but it remains uncertain whether these deployments could negatively impact Russia's position in eastern Ukraine, where military advancements have been limited in the Kharkiv region.

Russia's Defense Ministry declared on Tuesday that Ukraine sustained severe casualties in Kursk. They claimed that around 6600 soldiers had been killed or injured, and over 70 tanks and numerous armored vehicles had been destroyed. However, these figures could not be substantiated independently.

Following Russia's Defense Ministry's declaration, there were reports of international efforts to aid the evacuation of civilians from The Kursk. Despite the ongoing conflict, several humanitarian organizations expressed their intent to provide assistance to the displaced population.

The situation in The Kursk remains tense, with both Ukrainian and Russian forces maintaining their positions, despite claims of substantial losses on both sides.
