Ukraine reports "one of the most powerful" attacks of the war
In the night, Russia attacks Ukraine with dozens of combat drones. Authorities describe it as one of the heaviest attacks since the start of the war. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military claims to have targeted a Russian weapons depot.
The Russian military attacked targets in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and other parts of the country with dozens of combat drones in the night. "Over two waves, more than 40 enemy drones were shot down over the Kyiv area and the outskirts of the capital," the Kyiv military administration reported on Telegram. None of the drones reached their target in the capital. The authority described the attack as one of the strongest on Ukraine during the entire war. Overall, an air alert lasted for over eight hours in the city of three million people. Reports of Russian drone attacks also came from other regions. Six were shot down over the southeastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk - four more over the region of Mykolajiw in the south of the country.
According to the Ukrainian air force, a total of 89 combat drones were used by the Russian army. All were shot down by air defense. In addition to mobile units equipped with machine guns, combat aircraft were also used. Furthermore, a Russian cruise missile of the type Ch-59 was intercepted.
The Ukrainian military claims to have attacked a weapons and military equipment depot in the Russian oblast of Kursk in the night. Kursk borders Ukraine and has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian fire.
The international community strongly condemns the continuous attack on Ukraine, particularly the recent nighttime assault using combat drones in Kyiv and other parts of the country. Despite these relentless attacks, Ukraine's air defense systems successfully intercepted and brought down over 89 enemy drones.
