Ukraine launches ATACMS missile attacks on Crimea

Once more within a brief span of hours, the Crimean Peninsula, under Russian control, experienced rocket attacks. authorities in Moscow accuse the USA of the casualties and injuries due to the nighttime shelling with ATACMS. Both Kiev and Washington have responded concerning the assault.

The Ukrainian military targeted sites on the Crimea, a region annexed by Russia, during the night. Explosions were heard in the coastal city of Evpatoria, as reported by Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, on Monday night. Unlike daytime attacks, the city's authorities alerted citizens with an air alarm. The aftermath of the attack is uncertain, with multiple media outlets sharing videos and images of fires. However, there has been no confirmation of purported damage to military installations from either the Ukrainian or Russian side.

The Crimea plays a crucial role in the Russian Army's operations against Ukraine, serving as a key deployment area. The peninsula also hosts the Russian Black Sea Fleet, as well as multiple bases from which the Russian Air Force launches attacks on Ukraine. As a result, the Crimea has faced an increasing number of Ukrainian attacks in recent months.

The port city of Sevastopol was bombarded with rockets on Sunday. A rocket, intercepted by the Russian air defense, detonated over one of the city's streets. Russia alleges that the USA is responsible for the attack. "The blame for the provocative rocket assault on civilians in Sevastopol primarily lies with Washington, which supplied the weapons to Ukraine," stated the Russian Defense Ministry. Kiev reportedly employed ATACMS rockets, manufactured in the USA, against the Black Sea city.

Apology Statement from Putin

Four individuals, among them two children, were injured in the attack, according to Sevastopol's governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, in a Telegram channel. Earlier, he had mentioned five fatalities. Razvozhayev stated that 151 people were injured, 82 of whom were hospitalized. Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to Razvozhayev via phone call.

Russian media released videos depicting people running from the beach following explosions. The authenticity of the footage could not be confirmed initially. Witnesses reported in the ChP Sevastopol news channel that an elderly woman died after being struck by a shell while swimming in the sea.

The Russian Defense Ministry revealed that the flight data for the ATACMS rockets had been "entered by US specialists based on data from US satellite surveillance." "Such actions will not go unchallenged," it added. The Russian Investigative Committee announced the initiation of an investigation into a "terrorist act."
