Ukraine launches a substantial drone assault on Moscow.

As reported by Russian sources, Ukraine launched a significant drone assault on Moscow last night, utilizing a substantial number of drones. Eleven aerial threats headed towards the capital were successfully intercepted, as per the Defense Ministry's announcement on Telegram. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobjanin stated on Telegram that this was one of the biggest attempts to bombard Moscow with drones ever.

Some drones were taken down over Podolsk, a city situated approximately 38 kilometers south of the Kremlin. There were no documented injuries or property damage, as reported by Sobjanin. Both Ukraine and Russia keep their lips sealed regarding the complete extent of damage from such attacks, as long as civilian infrastructure remains unharmed and no casualties occur. Russian officials primarily disclose the number of neutralized drones.

Ukraine has repeatedly utilized drones to target Moscow in recent months, mostly with only a single or two drones aimed at the capital. The current attack seems to be larger than the one that occurred in May 2023, during which at least eight drones were brought down above Russian capital. President Vladimir Putin referred to Ukraine as a threat and a provoker after the May assault.

Moscow: A total of 45 drones annihilated

The assault during the nighttime was part of a larger drone campaign, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. A total of 45 drones launched from Ukraine were reportedly taken down. In the border regions of Bryansk and Belgorod, 23 and six drones were destroyed respectively, and three drones were shot down in the Kaluga region, situated southwest of the Moscow region. In the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have penetrated, two drones were brought down.

Reports of thwarted attacks also emerged from Tula and Rostov, but the Defense Ministry declined to comment on such reports. However, the news agency Reuters has yet to independently validate these reports. There was initially no statement released by Ukraine.

Despite the successful interception of drones over Moscow, the city experienced its most substantial drone attack to date. During the night, 45 air raids from Ukraine were reportedly thwarted.
