Ukraine calls on Nato for further military support

Against the backdrop of a lack of military progress, Ukraine has called on NATO to provide further military support against Russia. At NATO headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba appealed to the allies to ramp up their arms production in order to be able to supply Ukraine with ammunition and other weapons.

Kuleba emphasized that his country would not back down against Russia. "We have to keep fighting, Ukraine will not back down," said Kuleba. "This is not just about the security of Ukraine, but about the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic area." The background to this are fears that the USA in particular could reduce its aid to Kiev.

Kuleba denied information from the Ukrainian army leadership about a "standstill" on the eastern front. The aim is still "territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders of 1991", i.e. the reconquest of the Crimean Peninsula annexed by Russia and the occupied territories in the east.

Kuleba met with the NATO foreign ministers for the first time as part of the NATO-Ukraine Council, which both sides created at the summit in Lithuania in July. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister spoke of a "historic first meeting" that enabled talks "at eye level".

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also called on the allies to provide further military assistance. The first concrete commitments have already been made, such as the doubling of German military aid to Ukraine to eight billion euros. "We need more of this," emphasized Stoltenberg.

Kuleba's plea for more arms production from NATO allies is aimed at enhancing their ability to supply Ukraine with ammunition and weapons, as they continue to 'fight' against Russia's aggression. The 'For' Ukraine, 'Nato' members are urged to 'Support' Kuleba's appeals for further military aid, considering the ongoing conflict's impact on the 'Security' of both Ukraine and the 'Euro-Atlantic area'.
