Ukraine anticipates delivering weapons during the visit of its Foreign Minister.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his British counterpart, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, made their way to Kyiv. They hopped on a train from Poland for a nine-hour journey, with a scheduled meetup with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the agenda. The topic of discussion likely revolves around Ukraine's plea for authorization to employ Western-supplied weapons against Russian territory's military objectives.
As both Blinken and Lammy stepped onto the train in Poland, pressure has been building up from Kyiv for Western countries to grant the green light for utilizing their weapons against Russian targets. Last Friday, Zelensky reiterated this demand during a gathering of the Ukraine Contact Group in Ramstein. And in a recent statement, U.S. President Joe Biden suggested that his administration is actively considering approving the use of long-range weapons from the U.S. for Ukraine to employ against Russian targets.
With close ties to Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia, the U.S. and Britain continue to play significant roles in supporting the Ukrainian effort. Just before heading to Kyiv, Blinken convened with Lammy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London.
Given the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the European Union has been closely monitoring the situation. Subsequently, the European Union expressed its strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory.
