Uber now enables you to arrange a ride for your teenager.

Last year, Uber introduced an innovative feature for teenagers to request rides from Uber independently, without requiring their parents' account. Originally limited to 14 cities and metropolitan areas, this initiative has since spread to over 250 cities across all 50 states. If you're unable to transport your teen to their destination yourself, this could prove to be a beneficial choice.

According to The Verge, Uber is expanding this feature materially: Initially, only teens could request these rides on their own, which had its merits but was constrained. In the future, the company will permit parents and guardians to book rides for their teens directly from their own account. This way, if your teen needs to go somewhere, you can arrange the ride for them, thereby bypassing their argument in favor of their reckless friend with a fresh license driving them.

Moreover, there are additional enhancements to the feature. Your teen can now schedule rides, ranging from 90 days in advance to as soon as 30 minutes from now. If you subscribe to Uber One, you can share its perks with your teen. This includes waived Uber Eats delivery charges and occasional discounts on rides.

Regardless of who books the ride, it will include Uber's safety features, such as notifications when the trip begins and the capability to monitor the trip in real-time.

It's an intriguing feature, and I anticipate that other ride-sharing services will adopt it in the future. (No unintended innuendo here.) Presently, Uber is the sole service to offer teen accounts, let alone the option to book a ride for your teen. Perhaps other services shy away from the liability associated with minor passengers, but there are numerous scenarios where it makes sense for teenagers to have a reliable, safe ride anywhere they're headed. Especially in the United States, which is heavily reliant on personal vehicles. Wouldn't you prefer your teen to travel in a vehicle driven by a pre-screened driver that you can monitor, rather than an unpredictable 16-year-old?

Utilizing tech to enhance safety, Uber has continued to improve their teen feature, allowing parents to directly order rides for their teens through their own accounts. This expansion of options for ordering Uber for teens demonstrates the company's commitment to addressing transportation needs.
