As per Japan's national broadcaster, NHK, a man has disappeared after getting swept away by the fierce waves off Kagoshima prefecture's coastline. The nation's meteorological agency issued warnings to the regional inhabitants concerning the typhoon's hazards.
Moreover, around 250,000 households experienced power outages, as reported by NHK. Nagasaki advised close to 400,000 citizens to evacuate due to the danger posed by the typhoon. Train services were halted, and numerous flights were canceled.
The typhoon's course across the nation
According to media sources, Toyota, the vehicle manufacturer, has decided to suspend operations at each of its 28 production lines in the 14 domestic factories it owns, equivalently until Friday. The decision stems from concerns for employee safety and the potential depletion of parts due to the typhoon.
"Shanshan," labeled as the tenth typhoon of the year, is currently moving northward. As per NHK's reports, it is anticipated to cover the entire archipelago within the upcoming days.
The typhoon initially made landfall near Satsumasendai, located in Kagoshima prefecture, during the morning hours. It then moved further north at a pace of 15 km/h, accompanied by wind gusts reaching up to 216 km/h, as reported by the agency.
