Two thirds of people in Germany still watch linear television
Traditional television is still far from obsolete, according to a survey. Two-thirds of people in Germany (66 percent) still follow the program schedule set by the broadcaster, as a survey by the comparison portal Verivox found. 22 percent of respondents combine classic television with streaming services. Nine percent have completely abandoned linear television and only use streaming apps.
According to the survey, 23 percent receive linear television via satellite, 20 percent via cable, and 18 percent via the internet. Only four percent still use antenna TV, as Verivox announced to the news agency AFP on Thursday.
The different preferences in watching television are mainly influenced by age. Younger people up to 29 years old often watch a mix of linear television and streaming apps more frequently than older people.
Verivox surveyed 1001 people aged 18 to 79 online in May. The survey is representative of the population in terms of age, gender, and federal state affiliation. The question asked was: "How do you usually watch TV?"
Despite the rise of streaming services, a significant number of individuals in Germany (66%) still rely on traditional television and adhere to the broadcasters' program schedules. Some even combine this with streaming apps, making up 22% of the respondents, as revealed in the Verivox survey.
