Two people were severely injured in a car accident on Federal Road 105 in the Landkreis Vorpommern-Rügen. Yesterday evening, a 51-year-old man overtook several vehicles with his car, disregarding an overtaking ban, near Pantelitz, as the police reported. He failed to notice an auto that was on the road, waiting to turn off the Bundesstraße.

The two vehicles collided. The 51-year-old man sustained injuries to his cervical vertebrae and head. The 55-year-old woman driving the other car suffered a facial fracture and pelvic injury. Both were taken to a hospital. An investigation was initiated against the driver for suspected endangerment of road traffic and bodily harm, the police reported.

  1. Subsequently, the police in District Vorpommern-Rügen issued a warning about the danger of disregarding overtaking bans on federal roads.
  2. The overtaking maneuver performed by the 51-year-old man led to a series of unfortunate events on the busy federal road.
  3. Regular traffic was temporarily disrupted due to the accident, causing delays for several hours.
  4. The accident site was marked with warning signs and barriers to ensure the safety of other vehicles on the automatic traffic management system.
  5. The authorities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern urge drivers to respect traffic rules and regulations to avoid such life-threatening incidents.
