Deployment in Mittelfranken - Two people in asylum accommodation have been arrested

A special police command has temporarily arrested two people at a Refugee Shelter in Mittelfranken following gunshot sounds. It is still unclear where the gunshot sounds came from and who fired them, said a police spokesperson. The suspects are now to be questioned.

The alarm was reported to the Police around midday. The shelter in Uffenheim was surrounded and the area was sealed off extensively. The police spokesperson also reported hearing gunshots from the building.

In the afternoon, the police gave the all-clear on platform X. "There are no injuries. There is no danger."

The police were to search the building for a possible weapon, according to their statements. The cordons could be lifted forecastedly soon.

The refugee shelter where the incident occurred is located in Middle Franconia, specifically in Uffenheim, which is part of Bavaria.

The special operations command of the Bavarian police was involved in the response to the emergency at the shelter.

Despite being from different regions, both suspects were being held in asylum accommodation within Middle Franconia.

The criminal investigation into the gunshot incident will likely involve collaboration between the Bavarian police's special operations command and their counterparts in Baden-Württemberg's special operations command.
