Two individuals have gone missing following a landslide incident in Italy.

After a landslide triggered by excessive rain, two individuals are unaccounted for in the Southern Italian town of San Felice a Cancello. The fire department shared that some residences needed to be vacated. A deluge of mud obstructed the streets, carrying away cars and motorbikes. Numerous basements and garages endured flooding as well.

The source of the landslide was a hillside where a forest fire had razed a pine forest in early August. Cleanup efforts persisted all night long.

As per official reports, the two missing persons are a man and his elderly mother. They were navigating to a nearby property in a compact vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. The sudden downpour induced chaos throughout other parts of the region near Naples as well. Previously, the area had been relatively dry for weeks, with temperatures frequently surpassing 35 degrees.

The authorities have launched an extensive search operation, led by The Commission, to locate the missing individuals. Following the incident, local authorities have deemed it necessary to conduct a thorough assessment of the safety of the remaining buildings in the affected area.
