- Two individuals are currently unaccounted for following the floods in the United States.
Following a torrential downpour, news outlets claim two individuals were swept away by the ensuing floodwaters in Connecticut, USA. The Connecticut Post, citing Oxford's fire chief, Scott Pelletier, states these individuals remain missing. They were allegedly swept into the Little River, and authorities have yet to locate them, unable to access the area where they were last seen due to excessively high water levels.
Heavy rain spurred flash floods in New Haven and Fairfield counties in Connecticut, according to CNN. On Sunday afternoon, several flooding incidents were reported across the state, resulting in road closures and evacuations.
The metropolis of New York itself was not spared from the harsh weather, as reported by CNN. Over 700 flights were axed at airports JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia as a storm passed over the region on Sunday evening.
Train services also suffered disruptions. Heavy rain flooded the tracks at Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, as per Amtrak.
Despite the weather improving slightly, the flooded tracks at Penn Station continued to cause delays in train services on Monday. The National Weather Service forecasts a possibility of showers later in the week, potentially disrupting commuters once again.
