Baden-Württemberg - Two horses with cuts discovered - Police investigating
Horse owners have found their animals with heavy cut injuries at two different locations in Baden-Württemberg. One horse, which is nine years old and located in Rot an der Rot (Biberach district), and another one, a 35-year-old pony in Blumberg (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis), were reportedly deliberately harmed, according to the police. Investigations are ongoing in both cases.
Regarding the nine-year-old mare in Rot an der Rot, a police spokesperson mentioned that several tendons had been cut. The horse's health condition was initially unclear. Exactly how the injuries were inflicted during the night on Thursday was not known. The horse was kept with other horses in a so-called paddock – a small free-range enclosure. The other horses were unharmed.
Similarly, the 35-year-old pony from Blumberg had a cut injury. The pony's life was not in danger. It was kept in a stable. The police suspect a perpetrator in this case as well.
The police spokesperson ruled out the possibility of injuries caused by animals, such as a wolf. However, it cannot be completely excluded that the two cases are connected. Witnesses are asked to contact the police.
The police in Baden-Württemberg are seeking information to address the criminality surrounding the deliberate harm of two horses. The cut injury to the nine-year-old horse in Rot an der Rot required the careful attention of veterinarians to assess its level of recovery. Despite the case involving Blumberg's 35-year-old pony also having a cut wound, its health was not critically affected. Authorities are urging any potential witnesses related to these incidents to come forward and share any relevant details.
