War in Ukraine - Two deaths from artillery fire on Ukrainian village
Through Russian artillery fire across the Dnipro River, two women have been reportedly killed in a village in Southern Ukraine, according to local authorities. There are also several injured, including a doctor, as per Alexander Prokudin, Military Governor of the Cherson region.
According to Prokudin's statements on Telegram, Russian troops allegedly shelled the village of Biloserka on the northern bank of the Dnipro River at night with approximately 40 shells from a multiple rocket launcher. About 60 houses were damaged. A woman was reportedly killed in her home. Later, another dead woman was discovered under the rubble.
Biloserka, along with the entire surrounding area of Cherson, was occupied by Russian forces at the beginning of their invasion in the spring of 2022. However, they were forced to withdraw under pressure in late autumn 2022. The majority of the wide lower reaches of the Dnipro River now forms the frontline. The Defense Ministry in Moscow announced, without specifying a location, that Russian artillery had knocked out the command post of a Ukrainian battalion on the opposite bank of the Dnipro.
