Assault or Onslaught - Two city councilors from the AfD party were assaulted in Karlsruhe.
In the city center of Karlsruhe, two local politicians from the AfD party were attacked by masked assailants outside a café on a Saturday evening. A police spokesperson confirmed that three individuals, including the two councilors, sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, medical attention was provided at the scene. Initially, five people were detained by authorities, but they were later released after their identities were established. The remaining suspects managed to escape.
The AfD estimated that a baseball bat was used in the attack, while the police stated that they found a stick at the site of the crime. However, the police spokesperson could not confirm or deny the presence of a baseball bat.
The AfD suggested that the perpetrators originated from the radical left-wing movement, alleging that around ten individuals were involved. At this point, the police could not provide any confirmation of these claims.
"Courageous intervention by security personnel at a nearby table prevented the situation from escalating further," a statement from the Karlsruhe AfD city council revealed.
