Ortenau District - Two bodies found in a pond and on a meadow
Two men have been found lifeless in Lahr (Ortenaukreis). The police are currently investigating this as an accident, as there is no evidence of external causality, according to a police spokesperson. One of the bodies, a 38-year-old, was found on Thursday at a fence in a creek. Initial findings suggest he had been in the water for a longer period of time. He was reported missing by relatives from the Baltic region last week.
Furthermore, in late June, a body of a 57-year-old man was found on a meadow nearby. The man, also from the Baltic region, had lived in a rental property provided by their employer near the discovery site. However, they had to leave their accommodation a few days ago due to unspecified professional issues. The nature of their work was initially unknown.
Both men were reportedly known to frequent the meadow where the body of the 57-year-old was later found. They were known to often consume alcohol, it was said. The bodies are now to be autopsied.
The unfortunate incident in Lahr, Ortenau District, has raised concerns among men from the Baltic region. Despite being investigated as an accident by the police, this misfortune has led to increased emergency measures in the area. Regrettably, similar accidents have occurred in Baden-Württemberg, prompting calls for improved safety measures near bodies of water. The authorities in Lahr, in particular, have been working closely with the police to address this issue.
