- Trump's previous press secretary is contesting in the Democratic primary, supporting Harris.
At the Democratic National Convention, Stephanie Grisham, who once served as a spokesperson for former President Donald Trump, publicly endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Addressing the gathering in Chicago, Grisham declared her support for Harris, stating she respected the American people and had her vote.
Grisham, previously serving as press secretary for First Lady Melania Trump from 2017 to 2019, later took on roles as press secretary and communications director for the White House under Trump. She then returned to Melania's team as spokesperson and briefly as chief of staff.
Speaking in Chicago, Grisham shared that she had been a staunch supporter of Trump, referring to him as her family during holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. However, behind closed doors, she revealed, Trump would mock his supporters, demonstrating a lack of empathy, morality, and loyalty to the truth.
Trump advised her, saying, "It doesn't matter what you say, Stephanie, just say it enough and people will believe you," but Grisham stressed the importance of both what one says and what one remains silent about. Post-January 6 Capitol attack by Trump supporters, she resigned due to not wishing to continue being "part of this madness."
After leaving the Trump administration, Grisham published her book and has turned into a vocal critic of the former president. Another individual who attended the Democratic convention, a former Trump voter, expressed his discontentment with Trump's trade policies and declared his intent to vote for Harris.
Grisham's shift in political allegiance led her to endorse Kamala Harris during the Democratic National Convention, which was held in the United States of America. Reflecting on her experiences, Grisham shared her concern about Trump's actions, stating that the United States of America deserves a leader with more empathy and loyalty to the truth.
