Trump's plane breaks down before he goes on campaign run

Just before the weekend, Donald Trump is set to speak to his supporters in the U.S. state of Montana. However, there's a hitch on his way to the event. His plane has to land on the other side of the Rocky Mountains due to a malfunction. Eventually, he arrives at his destination by private jet.

According to U.S. media, the plane of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump experienced technical difficulties on its way to a campaign event in the U.S. state of Montana. This was reported by, among others, CNN and the "Washington Post," citing airport staff and sources familiar with the situation. According to the reports, the plane landed safely at Billings Logan International Airport. It was supposed to land in Bozeman, about 240 kilometers away.

Due to a mechanical problem, the plane of the former president was initially diverted to an airport on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, according to airport staff. From Billings Logan International Airport, Trump continued his journey to Bozeman by private jet, said an administrative assistant at the Billings airport.

Trump has an evening event (local time) in Montana, where Republicans are aiming to unseat the state's Democratic senator. Shortly after landing, Trump's campaign team posted a video on X, in which he speaks to his supporters in the state. He does not address the technical issues in the video.

New Campaign Strategy

After U.S. President Joe Biden withdrew his candidacy and pushed the much younger and more energetic 59-year-old Kamala Harris to the forefront, Trump must change his campaign strategy. Now, he is the oldest U.S. presidential candidate in the entire 248-year history of the United States.

At his campaign events, Trump often paints grim scenarios of the country's demise under the leadership of "left-wing extremist" Democrats. He claims that Democrats want to destroy the U.S., passively watch as criminal migrants invade, and lead the country into a third world war.

Despite the unexpected diversion due to a plane malfunction, Donald Trump managed to attend his evening event in Montana, addressing his supporters in a post-landing video. With the US presidential election of 2024 approaching, Trump must adapt his campaign strategy, as he becomes the oldest candidate in the nation's 248-year presidential history.
