Trump to make next campaign appearance
Former US-President Trump refuses to be deterred by the attack on him. A week after the assault, he announces his next campaign rally in the US state of Michigan. Trump announced for coming Saturday a rally in the US state of Michigan - exactly one week after the attack on him in the state of Pennsylvania. He will appear together with J.D. Vance, who will be the Vice President in case of Trump's election, Trump announced.
Trump was nominated as the Presidential candidate of the US Republicans at the party convention on Monday and received a triumphant welcome. For Trump's nomination as Presidential candidate, delegates from all 50 states and US territories had traveled to Milwaukee. In turn, the states cast their votes, their statements praised a "brave and bold" candidate, Trump's cheers were heard repeatedly.
The former President also appeared there together with Senator Vance, whom he had recently named as his Vice Presidential candidate. "I'm a Never-Trumper, I've never liked him", he said in the same year in an interview about the right-wing populist. He was even compared to Hitler by Vance at one point.
Trump survived the attack at a campaign rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, by only a narrow margin. The former President was hit by a bullet near his ear. In addition to the alleged shooter, a 50-year-old firefighter and family man was killed, two other men in the audience were seriously injured.
Trump has been portraying himself more than ever as a strong leader for the country, who cannot be stopped even by an armed attack. Democrat Biden warned after the attack on his opponent about further political violence and called on Americans to come together.
Trump's campaign rally in Michigan, scheduled for this weekend, comes a week after the assault on him during another rally in Pennsylvania. Despite the harrowing experience, Trump remains undeterred in his political pursuits. In the upcoming rally, former Ohio Republican congressional candidate J.D. Vance, named as Trump's potential Vice President, will join him.
