Trump sure: Biden stays in the race because of his ego

Allen retreat calls notwithstanding, US President Biden will continue to fight for a second term, this is clear to his predecessor and challenger Trump. The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump believes that his democratic rival Joe Biden will not drop out of the race for the White House despite growing criticism. In an interview with the Fox News channel, Trump commented on speculation about a possible withdrawal of the incumbent president: "He has an ego and won't give up," Trump said about the 81-year-old Biden. "To me, it looks like he could very well (stay in the race)."

Trump also referred to Biden's strong position within the Democratic Party, which he had achieved through the delegated votes in the primaries. "If you have the delegates, they can't do anything to throw him out of the race except for invoking the 25th Amendment, unless he says: 'I'm stepping down'", he explained. The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and cabinet members to declare the president incapacitated. However, there are no signs that Vice President Kamala Harris or other leading Democrats are considering this option.

Trump's statement contradicts a recently surfaced video in which Trump falsely told his supporters that he had forced Biden out of the race. "He's dropping out of the race ... I kicked him out," Trump said in the video, which was published by the news site "Daily Beast" on a Wednesday.

After a weak performance by Biden in a debate on June 27, there have been calls for a younger democratic candidate for the presidential election in 2024. Biden himself has repeatedly confirmed his intention to hold on to his candidacy.

Trump now said in the interview with Fox News that Biden had "extremely pale" in the television debate, "to put it nicely." It was a strange debate, Biden's answers "didn't make much sense," Biden had given "really bad answers." "They weren't even answers. They were just meaningless and incomprehensible words strung together."

In the context of the US presidential election 2024, former President Trump believes that Joe Biden, despite facing criticism, is unlikely to withdraw from the race, attributing Biden's persistence to his ego. Trump also highlights Biden's strong position within the Democratic Party, noting that removing him from the race would require an unprecedented step like invoking the 25th Amendment.
