Trump ready for TV duel with Harris

At first, Donald Trump hesitated. Now, however, he announces: He also wants to appear before the cameras in a duel with the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump is ready for a TV debate with his Democratic rival Kamala Harris. "I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4," Trump wrote on his online platform Truth Social. Harris had already agreed to a televised debate with Trump.

Trump and President Joe Biden had originally agreed to two debates, with the second scheduled for September 10. Biden's disastrous performance in the first TV debate on June 27 sparked the political wave that ultimately led to the Democrat's withdrawal from the presidential race, clearing the way for Harris.

Trump then wrote that the debate with Biden was originally scheduled on the ABC network. Since Biden would not be participating and Trump is involved in a legal dispute with ABC Network, there is a conflict of interest. The Fox News debate will take place in the state of Pennsylvania at a location yet to be determined. The moderators will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. "The rules will be similar to the rules of my debate with Sleepy Joe (sleepy Joe), who was terribly treated by his party - BUT WITH AN AUDIENCE IN A FULL ARENA!"

Earlier in the week, Trump did not give a direct answer on "Fox News" when asked if he would be ready for a televised debate with Harris. He would "probably" do it, Trump said. There are also arguments against it. At that time, Harris had not yet been nominated by her party as the candidate. On Friday, her party announced that she had secured the necessary majority of delegate votes for the presidency of their party in an online vote.

Harris, on the other hand, had already expressed her readiness for the TV debate over a week ago. "I'm ready. Let's go," the 59-year-old wrote on the online platform X. Voters deserve to see both candidates on the same stage. On July 21, incumbent Joe Biden announced that he would not be running for US president in the November 5 election.

Trump previously had a debate scheduled with President Joe Biden, but Biden's poor performance in the first debate led to his withdrawal from the presidential race, paving the way for Harris.

Despite initially being uncertain about a debate with Kamala Harris, Trump later agreed to a TV debate with her, stating that he is involved in a legal dispute with the ABC Network, the original debate hosts.
