Trump launches initial derogatory remark towards Harris

In the bid for the Oval Office, prominent Republicans urge Trump to avoid slamming Harris personally. Defying advice from his party comrades, the ex-US leader has now ventured into uncharted territories for the first time.

The outspoken Republican candidate Donald Trump stirred up controversy during the campaign by distributing an offensive remark about his Democratic counterpart Kamala Harris. Trump reposted a provocative comment from a different user on his Truth Social platform, implying that sexual favors may have played a role in boosting Harris' political stature.

The controversial post featured an old picture of Kamala Harris with former US Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who faced off against Trump in 2016. The caption read: "Interesting how blowjobs impacted their careers differently..." This innuendo was a nod to a sex scandal involving Clinton's husband Bill during his presidency (1993-2001). Supporters of Trump have also spread baseless allegations about Harris, suggesting that her romantic relationship with a powerful California politician from the 90s contributed to her professional success.

"Gotta do it my way"

Although Trump didn't write the post, his decision to share it on his official Truth Social account raised eyebrows. The Republican is no stranger to belittling his Democratic opponent, often labeling her as "crazy" and "dumb." Trump has also taken aim at Harris based on her ethnicity and background, arguing, for instance, that she "made a sudden transformation into blackness a few years ago." While his verbal assaults have been harsh, his recent sexual remarks set a new standard.

Many Republicans have lately urged Trump to tone down his personal attacks against Harris and focus more on policy matters. When questioned about these admonishments at a recent press conference, Trump remained defiant. "I've got the right to hurl personal attacks at her," the 78-year-old declared, referring to Harris and the campaign, and continued, "Gotta do it my way." In 2016, Trump caused an uproar with a vulgar statement about sexually assaulting women, but Americans still elected him president.

Despite the urging from his Republican party comrades to avoid personal attacks on Harris, Trump boldly declared, "I'm not going to tone down my personal attacks." Dismissing the advice, he asserted, "I've got the right to hurl personal attacks at her, gotta do it my way."
