Trump is said to have called Harris a "bitch" internally.
Donald Trump often lashes out verbally against his political opponents. According to a media report, the Republican is said to have referred to Vice President Kamala Harris using a derogatory term in private conversations. Trump's campaign team denies this.
The former US President Donald Trump is said to have referred to Vice President Kamala Harris using a derogatory term directed at women in at least two private conversations, according to a report in the New York Times. Trump's campaign team denied the report.
The newspaper cited two people who heard Trump refer to Harris as a "bitch" on different occasions. Both wished to remain anonymous. Steven Cheung, spokesperson for the Trump team, said: "That is not language President Trump has used to describe Kamala, and it's not how the campaign would characterize her."
Trump has repeatedly made derogatory remarks about women and his political opponents in the past. He has referred to Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, and other women, including the 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, as "disgusting." In an audio recording of the "Access Hollywood" show, he bragged about grabbing women by the genitals.
One of his competitors for the Republican nomination in 2016, Carly Fiorina, he referred to as "horseface" during a debate. Trump also said that author E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of rape, was a "crazy woman" who made up a false story to sell her memoir. A New York jury convicted Trump in a civil case brought by Carroll for sexual abuse, but not for rape.
Trump has also been derogatory towards men. He referred to his former rival, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, as "Little Marco," Texas Senator Ted Cruz as "Lyin' Ted," former Florida Governor Jeb Bush as "Low-Energy Jeb," and US President Joe Biden as "Sleepy Joe."
I'm not defending Trump's behavior, but I'm not going to repeat the derogatory term he allegedly used towards Vice President Kamala Harris. Similarly, regardless of political differences, it's disheartening to see such language used in public or private conversations.
