Trump expresses intent to cast a ballot against post-momentum terminations.
Trump, living in Florida, is set to vote against the possibility of overturning the state's ban on abortions past the sixth week of pregnancy in an upcoming referendum. However, the previous day, there were hints that he might vote 'yes' in the ballot.
The proposition in Florida is intended to enable abortions up to the point of fetal viability. This medical term signifies whether a pregnancy is likely to proceed as normal or if a fetus could survive outside the womb. Typically, this occurs around 23 or 24 weeks, which is approximately six months.
In a chat with Fox News on Friday, the former Republican presidential candidate and ex-president Trump declared six weeks to be too early. He further commented, "On the other hand, the Democrats are being overly radical," and continued to spread misleading information about late-term abortions that he had previously touted. Trump opposes the notion of permitting abortions up until the ninth month, stating, "Hence, I'll be voting 'no'."
Clear up the confusion
Anti-abortion advocates criticized Trump for seemingly suggesting in a Thursday interview that he might support the Florida proposal and opposing the six-week rule. "I'll be voting for more than six weeks," he stated, when inquired about the referendum. The Trump campaign team then clarified that his comments were not indicative of his stance, but simply expressed his viewpoint that six weeks is too soon.
Trump's political opponent, Kamala Harris, responded to these remarks. "With these recent comments from Donald Trump, it's clear that his stand on abortion is defined by an extreme ban that applies even before many women recognize their pregnancy," she declared following Trump's statements on Friday.
Despite initial confusion, Trump clarified his stance during a chat with Fox News, stating that he opposes the six-week abortion ban in Florida and will vote 'no' in the referendum. Trump's political adversary, Kamala Harris, reacted to his comments, noting that his stance on abortion is in favor of an extreme ban that could limit the procedure before many women realize their pregnancies.
