Trump expresses his dislike towards Taylor Swift in a post.
Not too long ago, he was still making an effort to appear as if Taylor Swift's fans were backing him. However, Taylor Swift's endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris appeared to have struck a nerve with Donald Trump so deeply that he could only vent his feelings in all caps.
Just days after U.S. celebrity Taylor Swift announced her support for Harris in a post on Instagram following their televised debate, Trump let loose his frustration on his Truth Social account. "I DESPISE Taylor Swift!" he wrote in an all-caps post. Truth Social is a platform that Trump co-founded as a sort of alternative to Twitter.
Swift quickly voiced her support for Harris after the debate, stating that she would be casting her vote for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in the November 5th presidential election. With a following of around 284 million people on the platform, Swift's endorsement carries significant weight with her fans.
Trump's Truth Social account also featured several all-caps posts earlier that Sunday morning (local time), including: "The failing New York Times is a genuine threat to democracy." Prior to the Swift post, it had read: "All prosperous, employment-creating individuals who support Ms. Kamala Harris are fools."
Trump seemed miffed shortly after Swift's Instagram post, commenting that "she always seems to back a Democrat. And she'll likely face consequences in the marketplace" for doing so. He also mentioned that he wasn't a fan of Swift's music. Previously, Trump had shared doctored images on Truth Social that allegedly depicted Swift and her fans supporting him; Swift cited these images as one of the reasons for her decision to speak out publicly about her political views.
As of now, there has been no independent confirmation that Trump personally authored the Swift post on his Truth Social account.
