Trump declares concord on television face-off with Harris
Due to Donald Trump accusations towards ABC for lacking impartiality, the arranged TV debate with Kamala Harris appeared to be uncertain. However, Trump has agreed to the conditions set by ABC now. At the same time, Harris is preparing for her initial interview as a candidate this week.
The agreement for a September 10 TV debate between Trump and Kamala Harris has been made, following the guidelines set by the June 27 CNN debate featuring Trump and President Joe Biden, which was held without a live audience and with muted microphones for non-speaking participants.
Trump labeled ABC as the "most unfair and meanest" news outlet in the industry. Despite this, the network has promised a "fair and just" debate in Philadelphia. Harris declined an invitation for a September 4 debate on Fox News, but has left the date open for any potential changes in her mind.
ABC News announced approximately three weeks ago that the debate between Trump and Harris would take place on September 10. Both candidates confirmed their participation then, making it the first and only TV debate scheduled before the November 5 election. However, there's been some contention regarding the debate rules between the Harris and Trump campaigns.
Harris' First Interview
Harris' first interview since being nominated as the presidential candidate will take place this week. She'll be interviewed along with her running mate, Tim Walz, in the crucial battleground state of Georgia on Thursday. The interview will air locally at 9:00 PM, hosted by Dana Bash from CNN.
Republicans have consistently accused Harris of avoiding interviews since President Biden dropped out of the presidential race nearly five weeks ago. Since then, Harris has only entertained a few journalist queries at campaign events and hasn't held a press conference as a presidential candidate herself. This has been a subject of Trump's criticism multiple times.
I'm not going to participate in the September 4 debate on Fox News, as I have declined their invitation. Despite Trump's labeling of ABC as unfair and mean, I'm prepared to engage in a fair and just debate with him in Philadelphia on September 10.
