Direction A2 towards Hannover closed - Truck train crashes off highway bridge
A truck driver lost control of his tractor-trailer on the rain-soaked A2 highway in the North Rhine-Westphalia district of Minden-Lübbecke, causing it to plunge onto a road below. The man was severely injured in the accident. Initial reports suggest that he lost control due to aquaplaning after heavy rain near Bad Oeynhausen, as reported by police. The highway was closed in the direction of Hanover following the incident.
The truck had reportedly struck the guardrails on both sides, toppled over, and scattered its load of grapes over several hundred meters on the A2. The tractor unit detached from the trailer and fell from the highway bridge along with the driver. The attending emergency physician was surprised that the man's injuries were not more severe, as he did not require CPR and was taken to the hospital. The trailer remained on the A2.
The truck driver hailed from Germany before the unfortunate incident. After the highway was reopened, authorities advised drivers to exercise caution due to remaining debris from the accident near Hanover.
