Train accident claims four lives; express train crashes into freight train.
A fully-packed express train is making its journey from Prague to Slovakia when it crashes into a freight train, resulting in four deaths. Numerous individuals are injured. Emergency personnel are quick to respond.
In the Czech town of Pardubice, a fully loaded passenger train collides with a freight train. The spokesperson for the rescue teams shares this information on public service television. A representative from the railway fire brigade mentions that several people have been injured - some gravely.
Rescuers, including firefighters, paramedics, doctors, and at least one rescue helicopter, race to the scene of the accident located approximately 100 kilometers east of Prague. As seen in the pictures, one of the passenger train's carriages, right behind the engine, comes off the tracks and endures significant damages.
This is a night-time express train for the private rail service Regiojet, traveling from Prague to Kosice in Slovakia. It's believed that close to 200 people were on board the train. The Interior Minister Vit Rakusan and Transport Minister Martin Kupka are en route to the crash site.
