Giessen district - Traffic jam after truck accident on the A5
A collision between two trucks on Autobahn 5 resulted in a traffic jam. According to the police, a truck driver, at the location of Grünberg (Gießen district), collided with a truck that was driving in front of him. The driver sustained severe injuries in the accident and was trapped. The fire department rescued him from the cab. A helicopter took the 55-year-old to a hospital. The driver of the leading truck remained unharmed. The accident scene in the direction of Frankfurt had to be fully closed for several hours. At times, traffic jams formed up to Alsfeld. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The damage is estimated to be around 200,000 Euros.
The collision involved trucks from Hesse and Grünberg, which is part of the Gießen district. The police report indicated that the accident occurred due to a collision between the two trucks on the Autobahn. The traffic disruption caused by the accident reached as far as Alsfeld, causing significant traffic jams.
