In Swabia, according to police reports, a row house collapsed following an explosion in Memmingen. It is still unclear whether there were people in the building, the local police headquarters reported early on Friday evening. The surrounding buildings have reportedly been severely damaged.

A large-scale operation by police and emergency services is ongoing in the city. Emergency response teams from nearby Baden-Württemberg are also reportedly on site. A police helicopter was circling above the city.

The incident occurred in the heart of Memmingen, a town known for its charming townhouses, with the explosion causing significant damage to a traditional Swabian-style townhouse.
